Menswear Brand KISAH Nets ₹35.9 Cr To Scale Retail Footprint

Omnichannel menswear brand KISAH has raised ₹35.9 Cr (about $3.7 Mn) in a Series A funding round led by Fireside Ventures at a post-money valuation of around ₹211 Cr (about $22 Mn).

The startup plans to use the capital primarily to expand its retail network, while also investing in supply chain, warehousing, technology and backend infrastructure.

“We are learning retail right now. We’ve had very good positive early signs for us. The idea is that we are using this money to create our playbooks, and then the retail expansion is something which should be funded by franchisees,” cofounder Yash Sarawagi told Inc42.

Prior to this, the D2C startup had raised around ₹10 Cr from angel investors, including Sagar Daryani, founder of Wow! Momo, and Apoor Salarpuria of the Salarpuria Group.

Founded in 2018 by Sarawagi, KISAH is a Kolkata-based menswear and kidswear brand. Sarawagi’s sister Yashvi Lathsarya later joined the business as its cofounder, followed by Saurav Kothari as its third cofounder. KISAH began as a marketplace-led brand before expanding its own D2C platform as well as presence in physical stores.

The brand sells through marketplaces including Myntra, Amazon, AJIO and Nyka.

It sells contemporary ethnic and occasion wear, targeting wedding guests and consumers beyond the traditional groom market. Its range includes kurtas and sherwanis alongside more contemporary pieces such as bomber jackets, flared trousers and sneakers.

KISAH sits at the premium end of online ethnicwear but remains more affordable than traditional offline brands. Its products sell for an average of about ₹4,000 on Myntra, compared with roughly ₹1,000 for the platform’s wider ethnicwear category, according to Sarawagi.

KISAH’s Offline Push

KISAH began its offline expansion with a store in Kolkata’s Gariahat in 2025. The store generated around ₹45-50 Lakh in its first partial year of operations before reaching annual sales of about ₹70 Lakh, as per the cofounders.

The performance encouraged KISAH to accelerate its retail expansion. It opened its first flagship store in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar in September 2025, followed by a store at Hyderabad’s Sarath City in November last year.

As of now, KISAH operates a total of 12 stores across Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, among other markets.  It plans to expand further in Bengaluru and test markets such as Jaipur and Visakhapatnam.

The brand plans to reach around 100 stores and ₹500 Cr in revenue before expanding into broader categories. Over the next 12-18 months, it also plans to integrate its online and offline operations as it builds an omnichannel shopping experience.

On the financial front, the startup claims to have clocked a revenue of ₹65 Cr in FY26 while maintaining profitability, with an EBITDA margin of around 5-6%.

It expects its revenue to cross ₹100 Cr in FY27, implying growth of about 70%, with retail expected to be the main growth driver. The offline business is projected to grow four-fivefold during the year and contribute 25-30% to its overall business in FY27.

As of now, D2C contributes around 20% of KISAH’s business, while marketplaces account for most of its online sales. International markets contribute around 8-10% of revenue, with the US its primary overseas market.
