According to Inc42’s Indian Tech Startup Funding Report, H1 2026, Indian AI startups raised $676 Mn in the first half of 2026, more than four times the $162 Mn raised during the same period last year. This came even as overall Indian tech startup funding declined 9% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Google x Inc42 Bharat AI Startups Report estimates India’s AI opportunity could reach $126 Bn by 2030.
For technology leaders, however, the harder questions begin after adoption.
An AI workload that works in a pilot has to behave very differently once it becomes part of a product used by millions. Faster software generation also creates a greater need for verification. More compute can unlock new capabilities while materially changing infrastructure economics. And productivity gains inside engineering teams can eventually alter how those teams themselves are structured.
