Info Edge To Invest INR 70 Cr In SIHL
Info Edge has approved fresh investments worth about INR 75 Cr (about $8.4 Mn) in two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Smartweb Internet Services and Startup Investments (Holding) Limited (SIHL).
In a stock exchange filing dated November 26, the company said its Committee of Executive Directors cleared an investment of INR 5 Cr in Smartweb and about INR 70 Cr in SIHL.
Smartweb provides internet services and also works as an investment advisor, financial consultant and manager or sponsor of alternative investment funds.
As of FY25, it reported a turnover of INR 41.4 Cr, with a net profit of INR 5 Cr.
Meanwhile, SIHL focuses on direct and indirect investments in tech companies, including investments in AIFs managed by Smartweb.
Info Edge will acquire 29,16,666 CCDs at INR 240 each, including a premium of INR 140. The investment will support SIHL’s plans to explore investment opportunities and contribute to AIFs.
Notably, via SIHL, InfoEdge has made many significant investments that include the likes of Ustraa, Gramophone, Rusk Media, ShoeKonnect , among others.
Earlier too, Info Edge had increased its capital deployment into its investment subsidiaries. In November this year, the company approved a INR 100 Cr infusion into Redstart Labs, its wholly-owned investment arm focused on deeptech and SaaS startups.
Redstart backs companies such as Unbox Robotics, BrainSight AI, Skylark Drones, ePlaneCo and CynLr, and also participates in AI and SaaS deals through Info Edge’s wider investment network.
That INR 100 Cr investment came after a smaller INR 30 Cr CCD infusion planned in October 2024, which the company later replaced with the larger equity allocation. Info Edge has also announced plans to launch a INR 1,000 Cr venture fund aimed at AI, SaaS and deeptech, to be channelled through Redstart and other entities.
Notably, back in August 2022, Info Edge had made a large capital push into SIHL when it invested INR 300 Cr in the subsidiary.
Shares of Info Edge closed 0.63% higher at INR 1,340.8 on the BSE on Wednesday .
